Biographical Info Hello, I’m Vicki and I offer a safe and positive environment for young people, that supports them in making the changes in their thoughts, feelings and behaviours they need, to feel happier, calmer and much more confident in their lives. Before training as a therapist I had a background in bereavement care and have assisted hundreds of families through their grief journey. This includes helping children to cope with and process loss, enabling them to understand and regain more control of their feelings and to develop positive coping strategies. Although grief is a specialist area I also work with a range of other concerns such as anxiety, stress, trauma, depression and low confidence/self esteem. As a younger adult, I struggled with anxiety and low mood and first discovered Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy when seeking help for myself. It literally changed my life and well-being in so many positive ways that I decided to become qualified myself, so I can support more young people and help them overcome their struggles. Part of the therapeutic process involves your child learning about how their brain works in relation to their particular problems, which I found mind blowing when I had this explained it to me back when I was seeing my therapist. I just wish someone had helped me understand this earlier, as a teenager (or even in primary school) as I genuinely believe it would have helped me cope and thrive so much better though my teenage years. I would have understood myself so much better at a younger age and been able to keep my well-being in check much more independently! This is one of the main reason I felt so passionate about joining the Youth Fairy team; I feel that children and young people would benefit so much from getting early intervention and support before things become a bigger problem and also understanding mental health better so they can have more control over helping themselves. I’ve overcome my problems with my mental health thanks to getting the right help for me and now I am dedicated to helping others make positive change.
